SEPTEMBER FAVORITES!

2015-09-28 09.51.11

It is OCTOBER!  Can you believe it?!  I use to think “meh” about Fall, but now I’m following the crowd and Fall is one of my favorite seasons.  Spring is my all time fav if you were curious.  Even though it’s still like 90 degrees where we live, I’v been getting really excited about the autumn season.  I even went and got some fall leaf garland for super cheap, and a yummy candle, and coco powder to make some homemade hot chocolate!  Fall reminds me of when Daniel and I first started dating.  We weren’t officially a couple yet, but we went on a walk, and he told me how fall is his favorite time of year.  I asked him why, and he said “The leaves are so pretty, the weather is PERFECT, it’s a good time to just sit inside and play guitar, drink hot chocolate.  And it’s good cuddle weather.  So I just like to watch movies….if I have a girl to cuddle with”  I was like “Ohhh, I want that! Pick me!!!”  That was a good year 🙂

So anyhow, I’m sharing some of my fall favorites, hope you like them.  What are some of your favorites?

Lipstick: Maybelline ‘Blushing Burgundy’ fyi it’s AMAAAZING! || Mascara: Maybelline ‘Lash Sensational’

*Thank you Maybelline*

Disclaimer Alright I realize that the selfie with the car seat and baby in the background is kinda lame, but I had no other option!  I needed a photo to display the flawless finish of the Beauty Blender sponge, and there was NO WAY I was settling for those random clip stills that Youtube comes up with (if you’ve ever uploaded a Youtube video then you know EXACTLY what I mean!)

—>Some of my friends and followers have been asking me how to properly use the Beauty Blender.  To some of you, the answer may be perfectly obvious.  So don’t judge, and if this post is “above you” lol you don’t have to continue reading, I won’t be offended 🙂  But hey! You may even learn something you didn’t know before….I’ve learned over and over again that the smartest and most intelligent people are those who never say “I know enough”

So hope you enjoy!

SUMMER TO FALL

10 154 9 16 23 27 29 30

Dress: Nordstrom (similar) || Hat: Nordstrom

***Photos by Lauren Wrigley Photography

So I know I’m kinda skipping out on my regular “Monday Munchies” post, but I just have so much great material that I couldn’t wait to share some of these photos from my shoot with Lauren and Nordstrom!

Here was my first shoot in Southern Utah during our trip there last week.  It was my first time working with Lauren, and OMG can I just say I absolutely LOVE her!  She doesn’t make you feel awkward at all (that’s the worst when you’re uncomfortable in your own skin, and then the photographer is like, “ok go!”)  I just love her style, I love her efficiency, and she is the cutest girl ever, and super talented.  Not only does she take any kind of photo you could need, from family shoots, to weddings, senior portraits, team photos etc, BUT she also looooves Vogue inspired pictures with “edge”  That’s when I knew we were a match made in heaven.  Because there is nothing more uncomfortable and disorienting when you’re working with a photographer, and you want to branch out and play with some different (high fashion) angles, and your photographer is like “what are you doing?” aka “what are you doing weirdo!?”  lol, but that wasn’t the case with Lauren, we had sooo much fun.  So if you’re in Southern Utah, or close to it, you seriously NEED to get her.  And snag her fast, because she gets pretty busy with clients.

K, so this dress!  When I first saw it, I though it would be really parchute like, and restricting in the sleeves (like dresses of this fabric tend to be on me). But honestly, it’s so comfortable, and the colors are so vibrant.  It can be worn as a summer/spring dress OR a fall dress.  Just pair it with a good fall hat and voila!  Gray and black hats have been a favorite on repeat for me this year.

Thanks for reading everything!  Happy MONDAY!

ZION NATIONAL PARK

AW, THEY HAD A MAJOR BRO-MANCE GOING ON 😉 LOL

We took our Australian & Canadian friends hiking in Zion.  Because that’s a no brainer.  Every time I hike Zion it’s always so much prettier than I remember.  This is the first time I’ve gone in the hype of the season.  And it was really weird seeing so many people from all over the world there.  Weird but energizing at the same time.  Our shuttle driver was hilarious.  He was telling dumb laffy taffy jokes, that even He knew were lame, which in turn made them funny.  Daniel thought he was weird and awkward.  I told him he has no sense of appreciation, ha!  Not really, Daniel is the sweetest, kindest person I know.  We did the Emerald Pools Hike, and I LOVE the lookout points.  One of these days I will do the Subway, because you get to jump of rocks and wade through chest deep water!

It may just be my opinion, but hiking is one of the BEST forms of exercise.  I mean c’mon, you’re out doors among nature, you’re walking at least a couple of miles on an incline 99% of the time.  And it goes my so fast you don’t even realize you’re working out!  Now that we’re back in Houston and the weather is cooling down, I’m going to start hunting for all of the great hikes in our area. If you know of any, please fill me in!

Have a great weekend y’all!

xoxo ❤

I’m baaaaack!!! And could NOT be happier to be back in good ol’ TEXAS.  I mean the trip did go waaaay too fast.  I could have stayed longer, but poor Kylie was just at her wits end and needed desperately to get back to her old routine.  And we BOTH missed Daniel so bad.  But all in all the trip was amazing!  Not just because I got to catch up with my family AND my bestie since 8th grade, Stacy.  But Daniel was able to be with us for the first few days, and his mission companion (What’s a ‘MISSION‘ ???) from Australia & his wife were in UTAH and we spent 2 days with them.  I loved them to death!  Daniel talks about “Elder Torrens” aka Josh so many times, that it was awesome to finally meet him.  And he didn’t disappoint lol.  And his wife Danielle was just a doll.

We went to Zion National Park, Kylie got to see her cousins, played at the Splash Pad, tried new restaurants, sang all the Wicked songs over and over w/my sisters, shopped at fruit stands, watched Cinderella on repeat, and ate way too many sugar cookies 😀  ALSO the Rodeo was going on (and my parents literally live across the street form the stadium where it’s held)

—>MODELING STUFF…..??? So like I mentioned before, I had a few collaborations set up during my time in St George (I won’t mention them now, because I’ll be doing individual posts in the next few weeks to come)  But HOLY COW!  I’m not 100% sure anymore if I could be a full time model LOL.  Because every girl dreams of being a model right?  Well although I absolutely had fun with all the collaborations, I hardly got to see my baby, AND it was a fight to make sure I got the quality family time in that I wanted. And I gave my aunt a few massages (I AM a licensed massage therapist fyi…nothing weird lol) which was a plus.  My days were seriously as follows.

7:30-9-photo shoot to catch morning light

9:30-11:30-Massage work

12-Go pick up outfits from sponsors/meet new sponsors

2:30 See my baby, give her a nap, catch up w/family & friends (guess I should say friend, I only had time to see Stacy haha)

5:30-7:30 more pictures

Maybe it doesn’t seem like a ton, but when you’re aiming for a “relaxing” visit with family, it kinda is a go go go schedule.

TUTORIAL:BOXING ROUTINE

Last week I told you all how I got a Wave Master bag.  I’ve been having so much fun with the last couple weeks, that I decided to share what my basic workout is like.  Now I’ve been boxing as a hobby for a while now, but this is the first time owning my own bag!  But you can do these workouts at the gym, or even with out a bag if you don’t have access to one at all.  Enjoy!

BIG FYI!  Tomorrow we go out of town for a week, so I won’t be doing a bunch of posts.  But follow me on my Instagram @joijoslinworwood.  And get ready for some fun posts and giveaways when we get back.  Because I’ll be doing some fun and exciting collaborations 😀

CAFE RIO SALAD

_MG_99992015-09-07 10.48.16

We had some friends and the missionaries over for dinner on Labor Day.  I decided to make the infamouse Cafe Rio Salads.  If’t you’ve never had a bbq pork Cafe Rio Salad you must try them.  But just get it once so you can say you’ve experienced it, but after that, I insist on making them myself.  Because I think forking out $10 for something I can make myself-and make it better in my opinion 😉 – then I’m not going to spend the money. LOL.  But anyway, the recipe calls for waaaaay more sugar than I use.  I’ve altered the recipe a tiny bit, just to fit my preferences hence a lot LESS sugar.  So here ya go!

YOU WILL NEED

Approx 4 lb pork roast

1 can coke (regular)

1/2 cup sugar

1 can enchilada sauce (red)

1 can diced green chilies

1 bunch cilantro

1 can black beans

1/2 can tomato sauce

2 limes

1 tsp cumin

1 cup rice

1 packet hidden valley ranch mix (original dressing NOT dip mix)

2 tomatillos

1 c buttermilk (if you don’t have this, just add 1 Tbl vinegar to 1 c regular milk, let sit for 5 minutes)

romaine lettuce

HOW TO MAKE>>>In crock pot, combine roast with 1/4 c water, can of coke.  Cook on low until pork can be pulled apart.  Add red enchilada sauce, green chilies and sugar.  Let sit for another hour or so.

DRESSING>>>Combine juice of 1 lime, tomatillos, half the bunch of cilantro, ranch packet, and buttermilk and one jalepeno (optional)  in blender.  Best if served after being chilled for 20 min.

RICE>>>Add 2 c water to 1 cup white (jasmine is my fav) rice in pot.  Once boiled add juice of 1/2 lime, and 1 Tbl freshly chopped cilantro.

BLACK BEANS>>>Combine 1 Tbl olive oil and 1 tsp cumin in sauce pan.  Add beans & tomatoes sauce.

Take a flour tortilla (HOMEMADE are the best—-I’ll post my homemade recipe soon), on top layer the pork, beans, rice, lettuce, then dressing. ***You can also add guac, cheese, pico and tortilla chips on top if you want.  I just typically don’t have that much energy…that’s a lot of work!

ENJOY!!!

xo, let me know if you like these kinds of recipes in the comments below ❤

——>>>Sooooo, I LOVE boxing.  Not like I could kick any one’s trash or anything…but when I’m decked out I sure feel like I can.  I’ve been doing Tae Bo/boxing for years now and next to yoga it is hands down my favorite kind of work out.  I’ve told Daniel ever since the beginning of our marriage that I wanted a punching bag.  Even think I’ve sounded like a broken record on steroids.  But the situation was just never right.  First house we lived in, didn’t have anywhere to put it.  Second house same thing…but at least by that point our gym had one 🙂  house after that, wouldn’t let us install one, after that, couldn’t afford one.  NOW, I’ve been so blessed these past few weeks.  My friend Angelica had one in her garage, so I would go over there and use it whenever I wanted.  Then after a few weeks of that, my other sweet and amazing friend was moving, and she randomly had this bag (a professional $1200 bag).  She was like, “just take it.  Please!”  I was speechless! Honestly I didn’t feel right taking it from her, I even tried selling it on Craigslist for her, but she insisted that I have it.  Oh my goodness I almost cried, and I had sweet dreams that night bouncing off the walls ready to use it.

Well I’m off to do my nightly boxing routine!  FYI I will be making a video of what my boxing routine is.  Will probably be up This Tuesday or the next.

Well bye for now!

c/o Express

There is a reason why I don’t have TONS of makeup tutorials, and WHY I don’t do crazy awesome makeup looks.  It’s because A) I’m not very good at them, unless you want to look like a clown…I’m very good at doing clown 😉 B) I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup….call me crazy, but after all I was a tomboy until well into my teens….still kinda am 😉

To me, nothing else says “I’m confident and happy with who I am” than a girl with minimal makeup.  Now if I were on America’s Next Top Model, or doing a professional shoot, then HELLO yes, I wear whatever makeup they want me to….but I’m not on a photo shoot every day of my life, and when I’m doing my own makeup I keep it pretty simple.  Besides, too much makeup=wrinkles (wrinkles aren’t bad, but wrinkles in my 20s, I’m gonna say “no” to.)

So I hope you enjoy my “Every day, effortless” makeup routine.

ps. Stay tuned over the next couple weeks.  Because I’m flying out to Southern Utah to work on some fun projects!

Thanks for reading! XO

INDULGENT CHOCOLATE CAKE

Have you tried the Ghiradelli brownies?  Not the plain ones, but the ooey, gooey chocolaty bites of heaven?!  Well these taste EXACTLY, I mean exactly if not BETTER than those.  I watched and learned as my dear friend Mary made these from scratch this afternoon.  This girl can seriously make anything!  I don’t eat a lot of sweets, and I don’t even like cake, but these taste incredible that I make an exception….by eating two!!! Ha ha ha.  The real name of this cake is “Texas Sheet Cake” (yeah it’s technically a cake, but it taste like brownie)

*BTW, as Mary put it “This recipe is not for the faint of heart”  aka, there’s a reason why it tastes so good lol 😉

1/4 tsp salt

4 (heaping) Tbls coco powder (unsweetened)

4 Tbls Coco

6 Tbls milk

1 tsp vanilla

3 1/2 c Powdered sugar (confectioners sugar)

DIRECTIONS—–>(Cake)

Combine flour, sugar, salt in bowl, set aside

Heat butter, then mix in coco.  Add mixture to boiling water.  let boil for 30 sec then remove from heat.  Add to the bowl of flour, sugar & salt.

Mix 1/2 c butter & eggs, then beat together, then add to main mixture.  Mix for 30 sec, then add baking soda & vanilla.
